“Live Like Connor and Play Hard”

Connor Joseph Dwyer - Lived Life to the Fullest Especially when he was playing hockey!

Connor was born on November 6, 1998 in Falls Church, VA to Elise and Michael Dwyer.  He graduated from Potomac Falls High School in 2017 and Northern Virginia Community College in 2021 with a degree in Business Marketing.  Connor was described as having a magnetic personality.  This helped him excel at his job in customer service. He received many compliments for his dedication, strong work-ethic, compassion, and ability to treat everyone with kindness and respect.  His problem-solving and communication skills, coupled with his infectious smile, ensured that people truly felt heard and important.

Connor began developing skill in, what very early on became his passion, hockey.  At the age of four, he strapped on his first pair of skates and never looked back.  Whether it was ice hockey, roller hockey or street hockey, he was always ready to play!  He grew up playing in the Ashburn Inline roller hockey leagues and played ice hockey with his high school team, the Potomac Falls Panthers.  After graduating high school, he played ice hockey with the Ashburn Ice House, Haymarket Hockey League, SkateQuest Adult Hockey League, and the Loudoun Street Hockey League.  He loved the Washington Capitals, and enjoyed watching practice sessions in Arlington, VA and attending games in Washington, DC.  Let’s Go Caps!

While Hockey was his passion, family and friends were his love.  Family gatherings centered on laughter, love, and food.  He especially loved spending time with his cousins, catching up, exchanging stories, and enjoying each other’s company.  He approached everyday with boundless energy and uncompromising love. He had an uncanny ability to see the humor in everyday situations and the stories he told would always result in bursts of contagious laughter. Connor loved to cook and was known for making all kinds of tasty concoctions. He loved to try anything new to eat, but sushi, chicken wings, and anything with seafood were favorites!   Connor was a trusted, loyal friend, and teammate. Connor brought his happy spirit and sense of humor to every gathering of family and friends. He will forever be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. To know him was to love him!

With great sadness to all who knew Connor, he passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital Cardiovascular Center in Falls Church, VA due to complications from a pulmonary hemorrhage - cause unknown. Connor was just days away from celebrating his 25th birthday. We all miss Connor, and watching him play hockey was the best!
